Metropolie Trans

Alias:
Gender:
Country: Jugoslawien
Description:
Metropolie Trans. The first in a string of four mixed-media projects (Metropolie Trans - Nowy Lef - Lebensformer - Re:Form) - that comprise Goran Lišnji?’s life’s work. Metropolie Trans was established in 1985, on the ashes of Lišnji?’s avant-punk / post-punk band Diskretni Šarm Buržoazije, and as it’s predecessor, it also operated from Osijek (Croatia). In four inspiring texts, Goran Lišnji? sets the ideological foundations of Metropolie Trans by determining it’s positions towards questions such as the production of culture in capitalism, the role of an artist in contemporary society as well as the role of media and technology. Although the principal preoccupation was with visual production, Metropolie Trans also made three cassette albums of music ranging from sequenced electronic music to ambiental collages. These include a collection of early works in Serija Ranih Radova (1985-1987), collection of mixes and edits titled Transformer (1989), a regular tape titled Numbers/Order (1990) as well as a four-way split titled The Cassette Played Poptones featuring Autopsia, NEP and Padot na Vizantija, that went with the second issue of a fanzine Sestra Wazelin that Goran Lišnji? edited. In 1990, Goran Lišnji? aborted all activities as Metropolie Trans, only to replace it with Nowy Lef. (Nenad Vuji?)
